Mary & Colette Murray welcome you to their family-owned pub Green’s Bar, Kinvara. Mary is the fourth-generation of the Green family to run the pub, which was founded in 1865 by Mary’s great-grandfather Michael Green. When first opened, it served the merchants and sailors working in the then busy port of Kinvara and farmers from the surrounding countryside. Today its customers are locals and the many visiting tourists to this beautiful region.
Green’s Bar is truely a traditional Irish Pub. Originally, the bar shared the premises with a grocery shop, which was very typical of most country Irish pubs. Like most smaller grocery stores throughout the country, the advent of the supermarket sounded the deathknell of these smaller business. But Green’s Bar has continued to prosper, with the former grocery food shelves not packed with one of the largest selection of whiskey, and particularly of Irish Whiskey, in the whole of Ireland.
Green’s Bar has also established a reputation for it’s music sessions, many of which are impromptu. Sometimes these sessions feature well-known musicians, more often talented local musicians, and always welcoming visiting musicians to join in.
